How i started doing job as QA without experience?
I did my diploma in computer engineering in 2011. I took couching from famous couching class in my city. I did many mistakes after completing my diploma. And a lot thing changed after that. I got failure as tutor of C and Java languages in 2013. I didn’t got job either. I tried my luck in other businesses as IT jobs wasn’t paying good. I started textile business in 2014 and again bad luck was in love with me and I got failure again.
Then i moved to diamond industry in 2017 and again it was pure failure. I was sad. I was broken and so many negative thoughts. I really didn’t know what was happening and why. I really didn’t know what going to be happen. I was sad, broken and helpless but I wasn’t weaker. I have to do job to earn bread. I was married and father of 1 year old daughter. so i started thinking about to do steady job. I started thinking about to do job in IT filed but i didn’t know anything that i learned in collage.
I was actually a person with 0 knowledge of IT filed and wanted to do job. i started searching online that what should be good to go with industry and i found Manual Testing which doesn’t required to have any codding knowledge to have. I learned manual testing by watching you tube video and free courses.
I learned difference between Functional and none functional testing. Type of testing and testing methodology. Then I did 3 month of course for manual testing in couching class and I was ready to apply. I made new resume and started searching job as fresher. I got few calls and rejection as i have long gap. but as I said I'm not weaker I got call from compony and they wanted fresher. I went there for interview and I did well.
They like my attitude to learn so they offered a job with trial of 7 day. in that 7 day i must prove that I am quick learner and I need to complete all task provide by senior. fortunately I passed all test and got job with 1 year contract. it wasn’t that easy to get first job in IT industry but if you have right attitude and grasping power you can achieve everything.
This is how I started doing job in IT as manual tester and currently after 3 year I have changed company and got promotion and increment as well. I stared doing code for testing purpose and I’m learning something new everyday. one should always try to level their self to achieve all goals.
When i started doing this job I had no idea how to test and what to test. but i tried learning different article online and keep investigating reference i got from my professional connection. This can not be done on overnight i recommend some point to everyone who choose Software testing as profession.

- Get Social
A QA tester mean different for different company but you will do this job in team. Join social platform like linkedin and other QA community. meet senior QA and ask your query and try to learn modern trends of testing. this is how you will be keep your self update about new tools and methods which help in testing.
- Learn from article and blogs
When i started learning manual testing I go through so many different websites and blogs to understand what is testing. i have mentioned some of best websites which worth reading. join medium for blog reading follow your favorite writer and keep exploring. this is beautiful community and guild of best writer and well experienced professionals.
- Learn and understand different testing type
There is so many different testing type in software testing and you can explore them all on website link that i gave you above. try to understand all different testing type and try to learn methodology. try to learn different stage of testing.
- Learn difference between Mobile and web Testing
Main difference between mobile and web app testing is mobile apps usually develop for large number of users and more diverse device plus broad range of communication. web apps work as one station, web apps also work in mobile as it developed responsive. mobile app need to work in different environment with different condition.
- Test in your device and computer
While you practicing manual QA at home or in class you should download app available online for test. try UI testing, functional testing. check if app is failed in smoke testing. test web app and check all functionality. easiest way to perform testing is test login functionality, test social login, test log out. minimize app and launch again from back ground. this is different scenario of testing. if you have noticed that so many time app crash when you tap on icon and try to launch app. that is defect. so perform testing on your own while you learning.
- Test cases
Test case is document which has set of test data, steps, expected result and actual result. it’s derived from SRS — software requirement specification. to learn it better try to writing test case. You can download example of documents from above mentioned link i gave as reference.
- Be Curious
As software tester you should be always curious. brainstorm happen when tester get new build or app. why and how always keep running in mind and that’s how tester find out complex scenario and uncover hidden defect.
- Learn test management tools
There is so many different test management tools online. some of them open source and free to use like Testlink and Trello. sign up and learn how to report bug and manage test cases. this will surely help to get your first job.
There may be so many ups and downs in life for everyone but you shouldn't be weaker and you should keep patience. good thing happen on right time. so try to learn new things and learn new skill. keep leveling up your self. do not lose hope and concentration.
